Christmas is upon us!

St Wilfrid's 30th Anniversary Ball

Well, time has flown past once again and we find ourselves in December already!

We've had a really busy couple of months with more wedding bookings for 2014, bouquet deliveries and some very special events including St Wilfrid's Hospice 30th Anniversary Ball.


The ball was a grand affair, attended by many local business people. We were asked to provide the table centrepieces and pedestal arrangements which we were very pleased to do for one of our favourite local charities.

St Wilfrid's have recently opened a new hospice in Eastbourne and it is truly a superb property with much more space and state of the art technology to provide the very best care for their patients. Every penny donated to them is a penny well spent!

We also supplied a posy for presentation to the Duchess of Devonshire when she visited with the Duke to see the new property, another lovely event arranged by St Wilfrid's which was a great privilege for us to be involved with.

In other news, we're booked in for the Eastbourne Wedding spectacular at the Winter Gardens on 5th & 6th January 2014. We look forward to seeing lots of brides & grooms to be!

It's the season for wedding fayres!

Unbelievably its been over 3 months since our last blog... time has flown and the shop has been buzzing with enquiries for wedding flowers plus lots of day to day floristry orders like birthday aqua bouquets, funeral arrangements and displays for our corporate clients.

We're planning our next shop window display which will have a spooky theme ready for Halloween and we're also attending a few wedding fayres so that we can display our services to lots of lovely couples preparing for their big day!

The first one we will be attending is at the beautiful Sussex National Hotel & Spa on the 27th October which is a big event hosted by one of the South Coast's premier wedding fayre producers, Stylish Events. 

The following weekend, on 2nd November we will exhibiting at the lovely York House Hotel which is a superb venue for a wedding, with an unspoilt view of the sea! What better place to get those unique wedding day photos than right on the beach?

It looks like its going to be another busy few months on the lead up to Christmas but we're ready to take it on! Summer weddings and Blooms' Balloons!

Well time is marching on and it's hard to believe that it's July already! The weather on the so called "Sunshine Coast" has been mixed to say the least and we are hoping for quite a few more sunny days over the next few months!

The shop has been busy and we're getting lots of wedding enquiries for the summer season next year and we're sending lots of bespoke quotes out to our customers who are preparing for their big day! We have a policy of only booking in a maximum of 2 weddings for a specific day (and only 1 if it's a big one) to ensure that your flowers look fantastic on your big day so if you are planning your wedding for 2014... get the flowers booked in now! 

We understand that sometimes its helpful to have a guide price to help with your budgeting so we've put together a guide wedding price list to give you a rough idea of what the flowers might cost. However it is important to remember that the prices can vary wildly depending on the type of flowers you have, style you choose and of course the time of year that you plan to have your big day, so you are always better off arranging a consultation with us.

Our shop window... a little less ordinary!

When we opened Blooms of Eastbourne we decided that rather than having a general selection of flowers in our shop window, it would be nice to have a theme which relates to that particular month and use flowers in a creative way to represent it.

We started with a celebration theme in April because of the shop opening with popping champagne corks, streamers and "Blooms" spelt out in flowers. In May we had a may pole made up of lots of different coloured ribbons.

Moving on to June we thought we'd celebrate the tennis season that Eastbourne has become so well know for thanks to the Aegon International Tennis Tournament at the Devonshire park, which is of course followed by the world famous Wimbledon Tennis week.

Our window this month features floating tennis racquets, tennis balls made from flowers, and a fantastic display of that classic summer treat, strawberries and cream also made completely from flowers!

A good friend of ours is a massive tennis fan and has been attending Wimbledon for many years. Luckily for us he has kept lots of programmes as souvenirs from his visit and he's lent them to us to display in the window when Wimbledon starts!

Where did that month go!?

Well... unbelievably we've been in the shop for over a month and time has flown by for us! We're seeing a good level of business with more and more commercial, wedding & funeral enquiries which is excellent! 

We've spent a good amount of time refining our website, adding content and increasing links from other "third party" sites which seems to be having a good effect on our Google page ranking! We've also been spending lots of time visiting local business, hotels and restaurants to spread the word about our business and  to speak to other companies about the services we can provide, but to also provide some reciprocal business!

We've set up a good relationship with some local hotels who hold functions & wedding receptions etc. One hotel in particular that we are very pleased to be working with is the York House Hotel who have appointed us their preferred florist!

If you have a local company and would like beautiful fresh flower arrangements for your public areas or perhaps would you like to provide gift bouquets to some of your best customers, we'd be pleased to provide a competitive quote. 

Some companies ask us to provide a bouquet of flowers to all their female staff members as a gift on their birthday which is a lovely idea and I'm sure helps to increase the bond between the business and their staff! Just over two weeks in and we're going strong!

Well... we've been in our shop for two and a half weeks now and we're pleased to say that things are going really well! 

The word is spreading about our new business and we've had many enquiries to supply flowers for lots of different events as well as plenty of orders for beautiful bouquets for loved ones! 

It was a pleasure to do a full wedding this weekend for a lovely couple including 10 buttonholes, 2 corsages, 9 table centrepieces, bows and ribbons for the church and cars, 3 bridesmaid bouquets plus of course the bridal bouquet! This was pretty much the full package and we were really pleased with the results, as were the bride, groom and their parents....

It's lovely to get positive feedback for all your hard work!

We've also been honoured to have been asked to supply the flowers for two funerals, one last week and another for today. 

These are always sad occasions and obviously a difficult time for the families, but we hope that they take some comfort from receiving carefully crafted arrangements to honour the one they've lost.

And finally.. we're open!

It's been a busy few months for the Lynn's and the Watts' preparing our new Eastbourne based florist for the big launch day!

We've stripped out old units (including a wooden fridge!!),  filled holes in the floor with concrete, had the floor leveled, filled cracks, fitted worktops, installed a sink, changed all the lighting, had a new electric board installed (and discovered that there has never been an earth in the building!), decorated inside and out, changed some locks, added new signage and had vinyl flooring laid!

Finally (and just in time!) we completed the work ready for the shop to be opened by The Worshipful The Mayor, Councillor Mike Thompson followed by a fantastic opening party which was well supported by our friends and families!

It feels like we've done the hard work... but in fact.. its only just beginning! We now have a fantastic venue from which to conduct our business, Tiffany and Tracey have been well trained in floristry skills, the website is in place and we are ready to go!
